Check a payment

Customer showing a “paid” screen? Spot fakes, check the UTR, print a counter notice.

The only real check

Look at your own phone, never theirs.

  1. 1. Wait for your soundbox or SMS. “₹120 received” on your side is the payment. Their screen is just a picture.
  2. 2. Open your UPI app's history. The amount, their name and the time should all be there.
  3. 3. Nothing there yet? Ask them to wait. Real payments land in seconds. Be polite and firm — genuine customers don't mind.

Every UPI app shows a 12-digit reference on the success screen.

These checks catch careless fakes. A well-made fake can pass all of them — only money showing up in your own app proves a payment.

Signs of a fake “paid” screen

  • Only a big green tick and an amountReal success screens show the payee's name, your UPI ID and a 12-digit UPI reference.
  • They won't let you touch or scroll their phoneA fake app or edited screenshot falls apart when you tap “details” or scroll.
  • The name or UPI ID shown isn't yoursCheck that the screen says it went to your UPI ID, not someone else's.
  • The time is offA payment made just now shows a time of just now. A screenshot from yesterday doesn't.
  • Rush and distraction“Arre bhaiya, jaldi — ho gaya, dekh lo” while walking away is the whole trick.
  • No sound from your soundbox, no SMS, nothing in your appThat is the only answer that matters. No credit, no payment.

A notice for your counter

Honest customers understand. People trying a fake screen go elsewhere.
